democracy is not a spectator sport

Local government decisions determine how our schools will be run, which programs will be funded, and how land will be used. These decisions have a huge impact on our lives and well-being. But in our busy world, it can be difficult to stay informed about the activities of local governmental bodies and ensure open, transparent processes.

Observer Corps volunteers help protect your right to know & provide critical oversight. Trained League observers attend meetings to listen, learn, and report back factual information about the proceedings of council, board, commission, and advisory committees within our city and township.  Observer Corps reports help members of our community gain easy access to important information from meetings of the City Council, Township Boards, Commissions, school boards, etc. These observations also help alert the League to issues that merit a call to action.
