Primary Candidates Forum

League of Women Voters of Manistee County, partnering with the Manistee News Advocate, will host a public candidate forum for the upcoming Primary Election on August 7th at the Manistee County ISD Building.

Although all the candidates in contested races for the 35th Michigan State Senate and the 101st Michigan House of Representatives have been invited to attend, the only candidates that will have an opportunity to speak to the public are Kathy Wiejaczka, Edward Hoogterp, both running on the Democratic ticket for the 101st House of Representatives.

Carolyn Cater running in a contested race for the GOP 101st Michigan House of Representatives and Cary Urka, running for the GOP 35th State Senate seat will attend the forum as well but may only meet and greet the public as League rules do not allow them to participate formally because their opponents in the primary have chosen not to attend.
